Get set to tackle Townsville

You might already know Townsville as one of the gateways to the Great Barrier Reef. But crikey, spend time here and you’ll quickly find out that the great stuff goes beyond the reef.

Footy fans can catch a game at one of Australia’s newest stadiums. History buffs can learn a thing or two about WWII history. The ankle biters can run wild in the city’s water park. And everyone can get stuck into some seriously good food and drink – whether you’re popping down to a pub or dressing up for a cocktail bar.

When it’s time to hit the water, there are plenty of ways to do it. Take a diving trip to the reef, snorkel the shallows of Magnetic Island, or park yourself on the sand with cold one and a good book. If dry land is more your thing then grab a mountain bike and go bush.

The reef isn’t just great. It’s bonza, right?
